Furnishing Hope is about helping people trying to get back on their feet. To us that means putting a bed, clean sheets and pillow under their head for a good nights sleep, supplying their kitchen with the essential items needed to prepare a meal for themselves and their families, a dining room table where they can share those meals, and comfortable furniture for relaxing at the end of the day. Our hope is that when people come to us for help because they have found housing but have no furnishings they feel they are treated with compassion, dignity and respect.
We are run by a small group of volunteers donating their time to collect and distribute usable donated furniture and household items. Recipients meet us at our storage units where they select items for their new apartments. We then deliver these items and help our recipients turn their empty apartments into homes.
We also support Alice’s Mobile Food Pantry which operates 4 days a week, helping many individuals and families in need. Each Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday night at 8:30 pm, volunteers pick-up donated food from Target. The items are then distributed to several locations in the east valley to approximately 150 people each week (distribution schedule).
